In-Your-Facebook

Ok, as anyone can see I have not posted anything here in quite some time. Well, it would be a lie if I said Facebook had little to do with it. Although I have had an account on Facebook for years it was only over this past year that I really started to use it as both a networking tool and as a semi-blogging platform. As much as some might say that Facebook is not nearly as good as Wordpress I have to admit that it is most certainly “good enough” for my purposes. So unless that changes I will be posting mostly on Facebook and may eventually shut this blog down.

Lamborghini needs to wake up and smell reality!

Saw this today. Yea, that’s what I thought. The amount of excitement a four-door lambo generates could be contained within a soda can as far as I am concerned. Not that I could actually afford to purchase said lambo but if I could I would likely pass go and get the Ferrari but that’s just me I guess. This reminds me way too much of the latest “hybrid” car craze. Everyone running out and buying cars that are better on gas just to “save money”. Too bad they are all getting charged way too much for these cars since they are the only type of vehicle moving off dealer lots right now. A friend told me how he got offered over six grand off the price of a SUV which was way more money saved than you get when you buy a civic just to get better milage…. You can also chock this one up to those tree huggers who want plug-in hybrids just so they can save the world by using less gas. Someone needs to let them know where that power they are using comes from (Hint: think coal, oil and natural gas).

The bigfoot body is a fake!!!

After reading the latest on the whole “Bigfoot” saga I just could not help but vent a bit. Let’s just say I am not buying their story. You see, so far the “evidence” these guys have presented just does not stack up. The body show in the photo lacks any of the common features found in either a recently killed specimen or one that has been exposed to the elements for days. The angle of the head in the photo indicates a highly flexible corpse (something rarely seen) and even the depth at at which it is sitting inside the refridgerator does not seem to indicate the mass of a full body. But what really drives me nuts is all the attention these guys are getting….seriously, the media is in a frenzy over what will very likely turn out to be nothing more than an ape costume and some pig entrails.
UPDATE: CONFIRMED!!! Body was a total fake and it appears that the two men who made the claim may now be facing legal action…not that I expected anything less.

Weekend car show fun!

_MG_6574

This past weekend both me and Karen had a great time at a local car show (hosted by a burger joint called “Skip’s”). Of course no car related activity is complete without tons of fantastic photos. Both me and Karen were well equipped; me with the Canon 20D and she was using my new Canon Xsi. There was plenty to see with lots of american muscle cars and even a few brit-mobiles to check out. The one dude who crammed a viper V-10 engine into an old cuda I though was particularly crazy….

Something strange in the fishtank…

Lately I have been noticing a strange green algae growing on the inside of my fish tank. Unlike most of the algae I have seen so far my algae-eater has been steering clear of it which means I have to scrape it off by hand. Definitely something I am not excited about having to do (at least once a week so far). I suspect that it might be due to the sun hitting the tank once in a while but the fact that it never really did this over a year ago when I moved the tank to its current location seems to rule this out. So, I guess I will have to Google my way to a solution unless anyone has any suggestions?

Back from Ireland!

Although I got back a few days ago I have not really had the time to post any updates until now. Both me and Karen had a fantastic time in Ireland. I still am in awe of all the things we saw while we were there. From the dramatic Cliffs of Moher to the tranquility of Muckross Friary at dusk it was an experience that I won’t soon forget. By the time we boarded our place back to Boston we had taken over two thousand photos and more than an hour of HD video footage! As you can imagine there is no way to post everything but you can find best of the bunch in my Flickr page (under photo galleries above) and here is a quick peek at some of the video footage I posted up to youtube:

Graduation, Ireland and More!

It sure has been a busy few weeks…finally completed my undergraduate degree at Harvard and now I am writing this post from Bunratty Castle (County Claire) in Ireland! Yes, you heard that right, me and Karen are having a fantastic time here on the emerald isle. This is such a beautiful place that I was almost overwhelmed at what I have seen over the last two days. I love to take photos so no post would be complete without at least one…with more over the next few days.

Both me and Karen at the Cliffs of Moher.

Why Blogging Matters

After reading this incredibly intense report by the New York Times on the government’s use of military advisers to deceive the public on the Iraq war I began to realize that the rise of blogging is far more than just folks venting or sharing daily life. It is literly about freedom. The kind of freedom we have been seeing less and less of in recent days. Continue reading ‘Why Blogging Matters’

400GB iTunes Library Bad

Ok, having a 400GB iTunes library is not in itself a bad thing. Running out of disk space to store said library IS. Over last weekend I noticed that after downloading the latest season of 48 Hours Mystery for Karen the main external hard drive (500gigs) was so full that OSX would no longer run a Time Machine backup anymore leaving all my purchased content at risk! The worst part of this was the fact that once you get a library this big keeping it on a single volume is a significant challenge….

Blogging With Photos (again)

IMG_5601.JPG Over the last few years I have found one aspect of blogging that never seems to meet my expectations. Photos, they always seem to be a problem in some form or another. As you can see from all the albums I have on Flickr I tend to take quite a few photos but rarely post them on this blog. The primary reason is that I have not found a easy process to get the photo to both look good on the blog but link back to Flickr correctly. Until now. Finally I found a blogging program that both lets me blog using all the fun features of Wordpress while also integrating correctly with Flickr photos. So what is this master program? Funny thing is…its what I have been using all along ecto! The latest beta release now features direct Flickr support which makes inserting photos into your blogs a quick and easy process.
